Effective Dysport Injections for Wrinkle Reduction

A Dysport® Cosmetic treatment is a simple, non-surgical procedure that smooths the deep, persistent lines between your brows that developed over time. One procedure using a few tiny injections - relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form and keeps them relaxed up to four months. The results are dramatic and apparent within a week to two weeks. Most people return directly to work or regular activity following treatment, please see instructions for after procedure. Repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. Dysport® Cosmetic works beneath the surface and temporarily reduces the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults – to help them look visibly smoother.

Dysport injections have allowed us to give patients a choice in neurotoxins since coming on the market over six years ago. Noted benefits of Dysport include that it spreads more than Botox and patients who have stopped responding to Botox commonly use it. It is also injected at a different strength and affects a slightly larger area than Botox and Xeomin.

What’s the difference between brands?  Jeuveau and Dysport act quicker than Botox, in a few days, whereas Botox may take up to 6 days.   Dysport spreads a little more than the others and requires 3 units to equal 1 unit of the other brands.

 Dysport, Botox, and Jeuveau are injectable neurotoxins.

However, there are minor differences in the manufacturing and purification processes for each product. We can’t tell you exactly what these differences are, as they are under lock and key with each manufacturer—but basically the minor differences result in Dysport being a little more effective for certain patients, and Jeuveau a little more effective for others or vice versa.

It’s a very similar situation as with the hyaluronic acid fillers Juvéderm and Restylane—they’re extremely similar, and we use both to treat the same types of concerns, but each has its own fan club

Some patients receiving cosmetic report the injections feel like a pinch. You may begin to notice a visible smoothing of frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines within a week to two weeks, with results lasting up to 4 months for moderate to severe frown lines in adults. Dysport® Cosmetic is not a permanent treatment. If you discontinue treatment the moderate to severe frown lines, crow's feet and forehead lines will gradually return.

What results should I expect after injection treatments?

You may notice results within a few days, but it can take up to a week to two weeks to see the full effect.  This improvement typically lasts about three to four months. The effects of botulinum toxin begin to fade, your muscle reactions and the wrinkles will return.
